June 2018 Playlist

Easing into this June playlist, we have José Roboter, a producer and DJ from Strasbourg, France. This dreamy and tropical tune has helped me get through some seriously grey and wet days in Sydney lately. His warm and bright synths, groove bass and bongos guides you into the deepest daydreams of sun soaked days on the beach with a refreshing wi-fi connection.

Next, we pick up the energy with a dangerously contagious head nod track by French electronic producer based in Toulouse, Mangabey. The progressive groove in this track is unbeatable. From the off-beat synths to its funky thick bass line, it has all the ingredients for a dance floor fire.

The third track we dive a little deeper into some house with duo COEO from Munich, Germany. The deep bass-line in this track was the first thing that drew me in. The bass seems to glues all the great detail and intricate layering of instruments that is happening over the top.

I have just realised I've gone pretty heavy on the French music front this month. This may well be because of how well France are playing in the FIFA World Cup. Anyway, here's another French producer/DJ that goes by the name of Uniile. The track This Must Be Illegal, for me, has all the makings of a great house track. Nice progression, great samples, effective use of minimalism to maintain engagement. Hats off to you Uniile.

Lastly, we have another Frenchman, Folamour. For me this guy kills it on all fronts, especially with this 10 minute narrative — A tune that is perfect for a funky Friday afternoon with a frothy one. Warm up the hips for this one. Until next month, dance hard.
